Ocean Wonders: Sharks! Exhibit at the New York Aquarium

Marine wonders abound at the new Ocean Wonders: Sharks! exhibit.

Colliers was engaged by the Wildlife Conservation Society to project manage the addition of the Ocean Wonders: Sharks! Exhibit at the New York Aquarium, the oldest continuously operating aquatic museum in the United States, on Brooklyn’s Coney Island.

The project consisted of a three-level addition, including a rooftop observation deck and an underwater tunnel that takes visitors beneath a coral reef, which holds a multitude of marine life species.

The facility has been designated as a New York City landmark, with the exterior of the building designed with curved cantilevers, including a 1,100-foot-long shimmer wall, and 33,000 aluminum flappers that undulate in the wind.

Colliers provided executive project oversight to assist the Wildlife Conservation Society in the refinement of the overall project schedule and budget. Additionally, Colliers provided project management support after Super Storm Sandy for the planning of emergency FEMA projects.
